How to hold a Pistol properly for Actors and Stunt performers from Firearm Training for Film and TV

In this video, I'm going to show you how to hold a Handgun properly and safely. Its contents from our Handgun & Tactical Rifle Training for Film & TV course for Actors, Supporting artists and Stunt performers from Firearm Training for Film and TV.

The reason I got involved in this industry was because of all the mistakes actors were making with firearms, letting themselves and the production down. You might be an amazing actor or stunt performer but when that action role comes along and firearms are thrown into the mix you will be amazed at how people let themselves down. I'm asked whats the most important skill to know. The answer is right here in the video

In summary… Your grip must be as high as possible on the frame/pistol grip, as closer to the bore the better for less recoil. You are not gripping the slide and unable to as the beavertail at the top of the pistol grip will stop this along with stopping the back of the slide from slicing your hand. I say in the video high on the slide but I don’t mean you grip it. When the pistol is presented up on to the target and fired the side of your thumbs may occasionally have brief contact with the slide but having fired thousands of rounds from many pistols it makes no difference or do you feel it.

We provide personalised training solutions for individuals & organisations who need to gain theoretical and safe practical competency in the use of firearms. We work with people from Film, Television and Stage to make those handling firearms safe with a competence that will shine through the camera like they are the next James Bond. We choreograph scenes with firearms for productions as well as individuals who want to make their showreel stand out from the crowd.

The mission...
To increase the safe practices of the use of firearms through training to enable those who use them on television and film to come across as realistic as possible without jeopardising the safety of the crew around them
